What do Tiger Nuts taste like?
Tiger Nuts have a distinctive flavor that sets them apart from traditional nuts like almonds, walnuts, or cashews. Their taste is often described as a combination of several elements, making it a truly unique experience for your palate.
Sweet and Nutty: The most prominent flavor in tiger nuts is a natural sweetness, reminiscent of coconut or almond. This sweetness is balanced by a subtle nuttiness, making tiger nuts a satisfying snack or ingredient in various dishes.
Earthy Undertones: Beneath the sweetness and nuttiness, there is a mild earthy undertone to tiger nuts, giving them a grounded and wholesome taste. This earthiness can be compared to the flavor of fresh vegetables like carrots or sweet potatoes.
A Slight Vanilla Note: Some people detect a faint hint of vanilla in tiger nuts. This subtle vanilla note adds complexity to their flavor profile and can be quite enjoyable.
Crunchy Texture: In addition to their unique flavor, tiger nuts are known for their satisfyingly crunchy texture. When you bite into a tiger nut, you'll experience a combination of sweet, nutty, and crunchy sensations.

Can Tiger Nuts help with digestion?
Know what Tiger Nuts are chock-full of? Fiber. Do you know what fiber does? Gets your body running right! If you’ve been having any kind of digestion issues, the cause is probably due to a lack of fiber. We typically don’t eat as much fiber as we need, so you need to supplement that with your snacks. Tiger Nuts are the only healthy snack that brings the fiber you need to make sure everything goes down and comes out the way it’s supposed to!
Here's a blog we wrote about Tiger Nuts and Fiber!
One of the great things about Tiger Nuts is that the tuber is ridiculously high in roughage, and yet low in calories and fat. Fiber is very important for our health.
The Institute of Medicine recommends that men get 38 grams of fiber a day, and that women obtain 25 grams of fiber daily in order to be healthy. Now there are many plant sources of fiber to choose from, and not all of them are the same. We’d like to illustrate that by comparing 3 snack foods to help you choose your fiber sources wisely.
One 5-ounce bag of Tiger Nuts Premium Organic contains ten 14-gram servings. One serving has 70 calories and 3 grams of fiber. Eating half a bag of Tiger Nuts means you’ve already consumed 15 grams of fiber, with only 350 calories and 17.5 grams of fat!
If you wish to obtain the same amount of fiber from almonds then you’d have to eat around 4.3 ounces, which contains 700 calories and 60 grams of fat! That’s a lot of fat and calories if you ask us! Let’s say you like cashews better than almonds. You’d have to eat 16.67 ounces to get 15 grams of fiber, because an ounce of cashews contains only 0.9 g of fiber. That would be 2,617 calories and 207 grams of fat, just for you to get 15 grams of fiber!!! That’s already a day’s worth of calories, and about 4-5 days worth of fats!
So which one do you think is the best source of fiber among the 3? If you think it’s Tiger Nuts then get you some from our on line store at www.tigernutsusa.com
By the way, we have two varieties of Tiger Nuts, our original Raw Premium Organic Tiger Nuts and our Supreme Peeled Tiger Nuts, which start as Premium Organic, but our Spanish growers, using an all natural patented process, remove the outer skin, making them a little easier to chew.
Not only can you find these amazing tubers on our web site www.tigernutsusa.com, but they are also sold across the country in 37 states in health food chains and stores. Click here for store near you!
Can Tiger Nuts curb your appetite?
Tiger nuts are an excellent source of dietary fiber, which can aid in digestion, promote a feeling of fullness, and support gut health.
How long have Tiger Nuts been around?
For thousands of years our ancestors have been eating these tubers (yeah, they're actually not nuts!) to provide the nutrition they need to survive. Now you can harness the power that fueled the world's greatest hunters.
The Great Wall of China. Stonehenge. The Roman Coliseum. As humans, we respect the things that have stood against the test of time. Just as these landmarks did, Tiger Nuts have withstood time. After a great hunt, cavemen would treat themselves to a handful of Tiger Nuts. Now you can as well.
We can assure you that out Premium Organic Tiger Nuts are the very same as were consumed by our Caveman ancestors, and today we not only grow them organically, but they are packed in our own organic facilities in New York.
Here's an article that was published in the New York Times!
By SINDYA N. BHANOO JAN. 13, 2014
nicknamed Nutcracker Man for his big, flat molars and powerful jaws — didn’t
actually eat nuts, researchers say.
Gabriele Macho of the University of Oxford and colleagues discuss their theory about the early hominid, known as Paranthropus boisei, in the journal PLoS One.
Ever since, researchers have had trouble determining what he ate. His strong jaws hinted at a diet of hard foods like nuts, but the lack of indentations in his teeth suggested softer foods, Dr. Macho said.
In 2011, an isotope analysis of his teeth revealed that he relied on a class of plants, known as C4 plants, that includes grasses and sedges. But they did not have the nutrients that a large-brained hominid would need, Dr. Macho said.
She looked closely at the C4 foods that baboons eat at Amboseli National Park inKenya, an environment similar to Nutcracker Man’s, and discovered tiger nuts. By dining on them for 88 minutes a day, the hominid could have easily filled hisnutritional needs, she said.

What's the difference between Raw Premium Organic and Supreme Peeled Tiger Nuts?
Fiber! The difference between Premium Organic and Supreme Peeled Tiger Nuts is that we have simply removed the outer skin of the Premium Organic Tiger Nuts, using an all-natural process, and the net result is our Supreme Peeled Tiger Nuts. They both have the same nutritional values, except for fiber, the original Premium Organic has about 10% more fiber than our Supreme Peeled.
While you can eat both varieties right out of the bag, our Supreme Peeled Tiger Nuts are a little easier to chew. If you find the Premium Organic a little tough to chew, just soak them in a bowl of water for 36 hours and they will plump up and become crunchy!

Do you have to soak Tiger Nuts?
We offer a variety of Tiger Nuts products that don't require soaking to soften the harder outer shell of the Tiger Nut. In fact, we developed a special technique to remove the harder outer shell for our Supreme Peeled Tiger Nuts! Our Flour, Sliced and Chopped varieties require no soaking. Our Raw Premium Organic can be eaten out of the box but most prefer to soften them by soaking over night to create an almost watercress-type texture.
